We are delighted to share the exciting news that our friends at Sidi and the legendary nine-times MXGP world champion Tony Cairoli have donated a special pair of worn and signed boots to raise vital funds for Two Wheels for Life.
Cairoli’s famous number 222 sits behind the idea to produce a limited run of 222 Sidi Atojo LTD boots that Cairoli himself wears in his famous bright yellow. As he retires from the sport after 17 years competing at the top level of the Motocross World Championship, the limited edition boot numbers 1-221 will be sold in shops, with boot number 222/222, which Cairoli has raced in the world championship this season, being auctioned off with all proceeds being donated to Two Wheels.
Cairoli said, “I know I’ve been lucky, I could follow my passion and make a job out of it and an important part of my life. Of course I’ve faced and managed some difficult situations, I’ve made some sacrifices, but I think I’ve really been privileged,”
“I am particularly fond of these boots. They are the result of a special collaboration with Sidi and an undisputed evolution in motorbike boots. There were a few points we wanted to bring out and we succeeded. They’re definitely my favourite boots and I’m happy that someone can buy them at the auction and help us support someone in need,’’ he concluded.
Two Wheels for Life has been making sure that health care is provided to people in the poorest and most remote areas of Africa for over thirty years, supported by the world of motorbikes and its protagonists, especially in the MotoGP world championship. Health workers can now quickly and safely travel to hard to reach communities, providing medical care, education, and the transport of samples in the most remote parts of the continent.
Founder of Two Wheels for Life, Andrea Coleman said, “This is a very welcome and exciting moment for us. The support that Tony Cairoli is giving to our work is very valuable. We know that whoever wins these boots will be receiving a much loved and high quality product that has seen Tony achieve success after success. We can also show that stars like Tony are supporting motorcyclists in very remote communities to save and improve lives in Africa by taking the health care that they so desperately need. Thank you, Tony, his team and Sidi.”
