If you’re an avid motorcyclist who regularly watches YouTube, you’re likely to have come across motorcycle adventurer Noraly Schoenmaker – known as Itchy Boots.

Itchy Boots’ YouTube channel shares the intimate reality of life as she travels around the world on two-wheeled adventures. From the terrifying challenges of her bike breaking down miles from civilisation, to the joys of meeting people from different cultures and riding through incredible areas of natural beauty, a staggering 1.8 million YouTube subscribers see it all.

Bid on her helmet

Two Wheels for Life are extremely excited to be partnering with Noraly who has generously offered us the chance to auction one of her special motorcycle helmets to raise funds for life-saving projects delivering healthcare to remote communities across Africa.

The Arai helmet is the one she wore on her travels from Spain, all the way through West Africa and to Benin. This is a totally unique item and the winning bidder will be the proud owner of a special piece of adventure riding memorabilia.

About her travels

Itchy Boots has ridden over 140,000km solo around the world, passing through 49 different countries, on five different motorcycles. It’s not just these numbers that are impressive, Noraly also cares greatly about her work and the people she meets on her trips, and documents this in her videos.

Noraly says, “Travelling deeper into a country, going off the beaten track, meeting locals, will often show you a very different country than when you only visit the main tourist attractions. Sometimes you will see the absolute best, and sometimes the worst. Even though it can be painful to see horrible situations…I intend to keep looking for unknown places and meeting local people. To experience the beauty and imperfections of each country, to meet and learn from locals, and share those experiences with you. Because I think any sort of change will always start with awareness.”

Itchy Boots has travelled across the African countries of Namibia and Botswana, as well as South and West Africa, and seen first hand the lifesaving work that Two Wheels for Life supports, delivered by sister organisation Riders for Health.

Noraly’s direct experience has led her to partnering with Two Wheels for Life to help raise vital funds to support the health care programmes.

Two Wheels for Life’s Zoë Herron-Coleman said: When I spoke to Noraly, she’d been travelling through West Africa and thought of how she could do something good for the people who live there using motorcycles. She considered buying motorcycles for women in remote villages or setting up a charity of her own because she could see how valuable they were as a mode of transport in remote areas. But she realised that the work involved would be enormous and right now she’s fully dedicated pursuing her adventures and producing amazing content. When Noraly came across the work of our organisations Riders for Health and fundraising partner Two Wheels for Life, she realised that a valuable way to contribute would be to support organisations that are already using motorcycles for good across Africa
