Desert Rose Riding Academy brought on to strengthen African programmes' training offering

Two Wheels have brought in the skills of off-road experts Desert Rose Riding Academy to strengthen our motorcycle training offering and kickstart a brand new series of motorcycle tours.

With over 20 years of riding, Desert Rose founder Patsy Quick has completed four Dakar rallies as well as many other major overland expeditions, and been a British and European enduro Champion.

Desert Rose Riding Academy Instructor Gary Taylor leading training courses with the Riders for Health team in The Gambia.

Her team are professionals in all areas of off-road motorcycling including experts at leading tours and rallies, and training riders at all levels.

By brining in these additional services on a contract basis, Two Wheels for Life will be able to better support Riders for Health’s transport for healthcare programmes across Africa. Increased resources for stengthening and standardising training will ensure health workers are safe and confident on the road when delivering vital healthcare in even the most challenging conditions.

In January. Desert Rose veteran instructor Gary Taylor (who previously worked with Riders for Health before joining Desert Rose) kicked off the training work with the Riders for Health crew in the Gambia.

We are also planning to use Desert Rose’s expertise to develop new fundraising motorcycle tours in the countries where we operate. Supporters will have the chance to ride in African countries, taking on difficult terrain, getting access to the people and culture beyond what tourists usually see, as well as seeing the inspiring work of Riders for Health firsthand.

Funds raised will be used to support Riders for Health programmes across Africa, including vital rider training in the programmes they are visiting.
